AHHWX Official Press Release July 10-16, 2017 “You Are Invited”

Celebrating 10 Years of Culture, Community, and the Genre of Music We Call Hip Hop
To celebrate ten years of Culture, Community, and Music, Opportunities 4 Entertainers will hold its annual Alabama Hip Hop Week (AHHW), the second week in July (10th-16th). Alabama Hip Hop Week focuses on education, community outreach, and networking throughout the Mobile County by way of music and arts.
Monday, July 10, 2017, kicks off the week with The Forgotten One’s Hygiene Drive held at the Gulf City
Lodge also known as State Street Elks at 601 State St., Mobile, AL 36603 from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM.
AHHW is hosting a drive to assist families with daily-used hygiene items. Help provide the necessary personal care items for families in our area.
Please donate any of the core hygienic items listed below:
 Soap 
 Toothbrushes/Toothpaste 
 Mouth Wash, Lotion 
 Deodorant 
Feminine products/Wipes Zip Lock Bags
 Socks
 T-Shirts (ALL SIZES)
 Underwear (All genders)  Washing Detergent

Tuesday, July 11, 2017, is AHHW’s Annual Picnic in the Park held at Langan (Municipal) Park 4901 Zeigler
Blvd., Mobile, AL 36608 from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM at the Pavilion.
Come out, enjoy the festivities and cheer on the teams of your choice. These events are guaranteed to keep everyone entertained: There will be FREE food and beverages, Space Walks, Dunk the DJ Booth, DJ Battles, Mobile area DJs Vs Mobile Police Department and Adults Vs Children kickball games. Come out and see who will win the title.
Wednesday, July 12, 2017, on Parks & Recreation Day we will run a city-wide art contest, AHHW Building Through the Arts. We will visit each park and recreation center to sightsee talents and creativeness throughout our communities. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize winners. Winners’ mural will be featured Friday in the LODA Art Walk.

3rd Place Winner: $50 Gift Card
Thursday, July 13, 2017, AHHW mission is to change up the traditional vending event model by giving local vendors a creative and fun marketing platform to showcase their products or services. AHHWX will hold Pop-Up Shops at two locations:

Brought to you by Geek’D Geenius Mobile’s own Spank Lee Listening Session will take place. Come out and be the first to hear new hot tracks from Spank Lee’s new album.

There will be over 10 Vendors that you can shop! Come out, support local small businesses and enjoy DJ Tank spinning on the 1s and 2s while you shop.
Friday, July 14, 2017, we will “Go Purple” for Domestic Violence Awareness. Come out and rock your purple and help us celebrate the art in Downtown Mobile and fight against Domestic Violence. We will kick off this event with a Second Line Parade led by the Port City Secondliners starting at 5:00 PM. The parade will begin at the Fire Station at the beginning of Dauphin St ending at Cathedral Square for the Key to the City ceremony.
Alabama Hip Hop Week will receive the Key to The City present by Councilman Frederick Richardson; afterward, there is a host of events to enjoy, and you can witness the sound of DJ Tech spinning in Cathedral Square.
AHHW is teaming up with LODA (Lower Dauphin) Art Walk, which takes place monthly on every second Friday beginning at 6:00 PM, in Downtown Mobile on Dauphin St and surrounding Mobile Area. AHHW will have DJs spinning and a host of events throughout the evening, streets will be blocked off from Joachim St to N. Jackson St.
Saturday, July 15, 2017, the Main Event, is AHHWX Super Saturday!
“Control Ur Art” Hip Hop Summit Music Conference and Showcase held at XCite Pool Hall & Lounge, 270 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL 36602 from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM. The panel will discuss the importance of branding and control their vision and art. The will be special guest amongst the panel.
Performing LIVE in concert is Pastor Troy and the Dirty Boyz at The Soul Kitchen Music Hall at 219 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL, 36602. Doors will open at 8:00 PM and show time are at 9:00 PM. Sunday, July 16, 2017, AHHWX’s finale, it’s a party! AHHWX Community Block Party will take place at D Nu Spot 2159 Halls Mill Rd., Mobile, AL 36606 from 3:00 PM-7:00 PM. Come and celebrate with us on the closing of a grand 10th year running of Alabama Hip Hop Week.
